Spent the day sleeping in, reading novels and putting about the cold-to-the-point-of-absurdity city.

I picked up a copy of Four Cornered Night (2000) by Jets to Brazil. It’s not Orange Rhyming Dictionary, but I think it may grow on me. Blake Swartzenbach sounds far less Psychedelic Furs-y on the record, and it doesn’t have the punky Jawbreaker edge that ORD had.

Popped in for a very short tour of the Redpath Museum. I figured that if I walked by it every single day, I should head in at least once. Some rather interesting skeletons and fossils, but I was more impressed with the architecture of the building itself. With free admission and a location on campus, it should be easy enough for most McGill students to stop in, even for a quick look around.

Later in the evening, I saw Alexandra’s Project at the Montreal Forum (erhm, the ‘AMC Forum 22′) and found it to be an extraordinarily dark (and frequently cringe-inducing) look at the sexual politics of marriage. However, (avoiding spoilers as much as possible) I will say that Chekov was right: “… if a gun [is introduced] in the first act… it must fire in the last.” This movie should have taken notes, as its ending lacks the gripping tension that propels the movie through its first 75 minutes.

My roomie and I hopped on the Metro and went to Les Trois Brasseurs afterwards for a flamme. The dish is something like a thin pizza, though the menu takes great pains to distinguish them from base pizzas. Lovely, in any case.
