A small team of faculty from Central Michigan University studied data from Ratemyprofessors.com, the thriving online emporium of anonymous and often mean-spirited student rankings of university faculty. Their research, though noting some differences between disciplines, finds that students prefer easy classes taught by physically attractive faculty. But more importantly, they uncover significant disciplinary distinctions in hotness: The social sciences are hotbeds of hotties, while the natural sciences and engineering are gathering-places for the homely:
“It might also be noted that Language, Sociology, and Political Science rank 1, 6 and 5 in Hotness. Conversely, Engineering, Computer Science, and Chemistry had Hotness ratings of 34, 35, and 36 respectively out of 36 categories.”
Pictured above, for the purposes of illustration, is political science and international relations uberhottie Kenneth Waltz. (Sorry ladies, he’s married!)
